Compliance is the service, not the small print.
Cross-border contractor engagement carries real legal exposure for our clients and for the people we place. This page sets out how we manage it. If anything here needs to be evidenced for your procurement process, ask and we’ll provide it.
Worker classification
01Before we place anyone, we assess the role against the classification tests in force where the contractor sits and where the client operates. If a role genuinely functions as employment rather than independent work, we say so rather than papering over it.
Written agreements
02Every placement runs on a written independent contractor agreement setting out the parties, the scope, the obligations and where liability sits. Each agreement also carries confidentiality obligations and, where the work produces deliverables, an assignment of intellectual property to the client. We do not use a single template across jurisdictions.
Data protection
03Every processing activity has a documented lawful basis, we collect only what the role requires, and we operate a defined retention schedule rather than holding candidate data indefinitely. Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection requests are actioned within statutory timeframes, and data moving between regions is transferred under an appropriate mechanism such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy, with transfer risk assessed and documented. Access controls, encryption in transit and at rest, vendor due diligence and a documented breach procedure sit underneath all of it. The framework is built to meet the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and applicable US state privacy laws including the CCPA and CPRA.
Ethical recruitment
04Candidates never pay. We charge clients, never workers, so there are no placement fees, registration fees or training charges to candidates, in line with the ILO general principles on fair recruitment. Right-to-work and identity verification is completed before placement, appropriate to the jurisdiction. Selection is based on documented, role-relevant criteria, and we do not screen on, or accept client instructions to screen on, protected characteristics.
Tax and invoicing
05Contractors are responsible for their own tax and social contributions in their country of residence, and nothing is run through your payroll. You receive an invoice for the work. There are no employer taxes, benefit contributions or leave liabilities on your side. This is set out in every contractor agreement.
This framework is reviewed as our services and the applicable regimes evolve. Last updated: August 2026.
